| Job Description: | •Manage and coordinate the facilitation of smooth transportation of MTN staff on the inland waterways.(Office /boat house route). •Manage the boats and boat captains for optimal performance. Ensure accident free boat driving. •Oversee the periodic checks on the mechanical health of the boats to ensure they perform optimally and develop, maintain, and track records of boat maintenance. •Coordinate the boat captains to enforce and monitor strict adherence to safety regulations and precautions on MTN boats (e.g. life jackets, fire extinguishers, lifebuoy, etc). •Manage and control fueling of the boats as necessary and maintain fuel records of the boat so as to check and prevent fraud as well as to ensure optimal usage. •Verify invoices from vendors to ensure MTNN is not shortchanged or overcharged. •Review and approve payment for overtime hours of boat captain. •Conduct monthly inspection of boat fleet and record findings. •Compile and prepare a monthly report of activities of the boat fleet. •Liaise with relevant law enforcement agencies e.g. Nigerian Navy, Marine Police, on all related issues. •Recruit Boat captains and monitor feedback on their performance. •Identify and report security issues that may affect inland waterways transportation. •Facilitate the renewal of the boat licenses as at when due and advise on relevant payments necessary for continued operations. |
| Job Conditions: | Work will usually be on inland waterways. Normal MTN N working conditions. Willing to work outside normal business hours, as required. |
| Reporting To: | Fleet Manager |
| Required Skills: | •A first degree in Transport Studies or any other Social Science discipline •Quartermaster Certificate•4 years experience in boat driving •Experience in people management, especially managing semi-skilled persons. •Experience in relating directly with regulatory authorities (Marine Police Nigerian Navy, NIWA and NAMASA) |
