Role Summary/Purpose:
The Compliance Leader will have responsibilities for driving and integrating the compliance agenda across GE in SSA and partnering with the compliance community across GE businesses and other pole Compliance Leaders.
 
Essential Responsibilities
This role is an integral part of the GGO team and the functional head that will be responsible for developing and monitoring the GE Compliance program and agenda across the [region / country]. The leader will take the lead role in identifying and assessing the key compliance risks across the country and/or region and driving a mitigation plan to address those risks. 
 
Lead the business and corporate compliance leaders in the country/region in developing an effective and sustainable compliance program (e.g., policy and procedures implementation, third party due diligence and approvals, Session Ds, regulatory & compliance councils, etc.) tailored to the specific country risk profile. 
Drive the annual planning process for the country/region, including risk assessment, monitoring, surveillance/testing, and the assessment of the prioritization and sufficiency of resources. 
Assume the lead role for the Spirit & Letter program in the country / region, including ownership for the open reporting program, ensuring a vibrant rhythm exists to engage leaders on integrity at all levels and establishing a world-class culture of compliance. 
Implement a strategy that results in effective annual employee training, including for new hires, training for leaders, and training for employees whose job responsibilities require specialized training on top risks. Design and execute on a robust communication program to promote employee awareness about their obligations for integrity. 
Ensure rigorous programs to identify, manage and abate the companies key risks, including: 
- Mergers & Acquisitions: ensure the right processes exist to support compliance priorities for negotiation, diligence and integration of acquisitions and joint ventures; 
- Improper Payments: drive rigorous process on third party diligence and monitoring, gifts and entertainment, business commission monitoring; and 
- Collect and report on information about risk areas: e.g., early warning system, metrics & testing. 
Partner with the CAS Executive Audit Manager on key compliance initiatives as well as help structure 
Audit priorities and execution (e.g. third party rationalizations, customs processes, trade controls 
etc). Proactively lead remediation and root cause analysis to correct systemic issues. 
Develop the strategy to drive execution on annual PCRB priorities across region 
Lead investigations in country / region 
Act as lead Ombudsperson and concern reporting leader 
Partner with Corporate Compliance and Region Compliance Leaders to drive initiatives and 
provide critical input into regional processes 
Proactively and periodically assess the effectiveness of the compliance and integrity programs 
and compliance personnel in the region.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
- University Graduate 
- Active bar or law society membership (preferred) 
- 10+ years’ experience in related areas (compliance, legal, audit, etc) with strong performance 
- Ability & willingness to travel 50% of time
